Girl in the rain (Own creation)
I saw a sight across the street
a lonely girl waiting to eat
a loaf of bread in rains all wet
fallen on the road where she sat

A sight that all I can but behold
A tale that never would have been told
Had not been rains so cruel but gay
The girl would have got her bread that day

She was hungry yet her eyes were bright
She won't give up but put up the fight
So, though the night seemed long and fiery
She seemed determined but not weary

She looked pale and in shape so bad
Yet her gaze was not on the bread
So curious me, I traced her gaze
To find a dog with hungry face

When I felt pity for the girl
I picked a stone at dog to hurl
But when his eyes met with my eyes
He thought I was stealing his prize

He kept growling but dare not move
And I was scared seeing him groove
Our motives thus we both forgot
Till the heavy rains stop did not

At last when rains can't sing for long
And stopped their pitter patter song
Her deed made me look like an oaf
When to the dog she fed the loaf

Aadeil Sahib,

My salutation to you for writing such a beautiful sentimental poem , depicting the agony of child vs animal and how in the end the child fed the dog and remain hungry .. It truly shows that we human beings are very compassionate .

Very well written and the whole scene beautifully depicted .. I expect many more poems from you in English Section..
