Tere khwaabon me raat kat jaati !
Teri yaadon me din guzar jaate !!

Hum tere paas nahi aate to !
In andheron me phir kidhar jaate !!

Chand me humne tumko dekh liya !
Saath rahete to hum bichad jaate !!

Isliye mehfilon me jaate hain hum !
Gham-e-tanhaayi se to mar jaate !!

Sham-e-gam kuch to meri suno !
Hum tadapte to kisko tadpate !!

Pattharon ka gumaan tha tumko !
Hum magar dil ko kaise samjhaate !!

Bahut gumraah karna chahta hai aaina mujhko !
Magar wo apni hi fitrat se hardam haar jaata hai !! (Pankaj Mishra 'Nawaab')
