The Dance / Pablo Neruda - 10th January 2019, 03:51 PM

The Dance / Sonnet XVII

I do not love you as if you were salt rose, topaz
or arrow of carnations that propagate the fire:
I love you like you love certain dark things,
secretly, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you like the plant that does not bloom and it takes
within itself, hides the light from those flowers,
And thanks to your love, it lives dark in my body.
the tight aroma that rose from the earth.

I love you without knowing how, when, or where,
I love you directly without problems or pride:
so I love you because I do not know how to love otherwise,

if not so in this way that I am not even
so close that your hand on my chest is mine
so close that your eyes close with my dream.

Pablo Neruda

Naulekahe par tere khoon ki boond hai,
Motiyo ki jagah par jada kaun hai,
Jiski khatir daga chandini se kare,
Puch suraj ki woh dilruba kaun hai?
