kyaa kHaak e'tibaar-e-nigaah-e-yaqiiN rahe

merii zabaaN pe shikva-e-dard-aafriiN* rahe
shaayad mere havaas Thikaane nahiiN rahe
(*agonizing complain)

jab tak ilaahii jism meN jaan-e-haziiN* rahe
nazreN merii javaan raheN dil hasiiN rahe
(*sorrowful life)

yaa-rab kisii ke raaz-e-mohabbat kii KHair ho
dast-e-junuuN rahe na rahe aastiiN rahe

taa-chand* josh-e-ishq meN dil kii hifaazateN
merii balaa se ab vo junuunii kahiiN rahe
(*how long)

jaa aur koii zabt kii duniyaa talaash kar
ai ishq ham to ab tere qaabil nahiiN rahe

mujh ko nahiiN qubuul do-aalam kii vus'ateN*
qismat meN kuu-e-yaar kii do-gaz zamiiN rahe

ai ishq-e-naalaa-kash* terii ghairat ko kyaa huaa
haai haai araq araq vo tan-e-naazniiN** rahe

dard-o-gham-e-firaaq ke ye saKHt marhale*
hairaaN huuN maiN ki phir bhii tum itne hasiiN rahe

allah re chashm-e-yaar kii mojiz-baaniyaaN*
har ik ko hai gumaaN ki mukHaatib hamiiN rahe

zaalim uTHaa tuu parda-e-vahm-o-gumaan-o-fikr
mahduud-e-sajda* kyaa meraa zauq-e-jabiiN rahe

kis dard se kisii ne kahaa aaj bazm meN
achchhaa ye hai vo naNg-e-mohabbat* yahiiN rahe

sar-daadgaan-e-ishq-o-mohabbat* kii kyaa kamii
qaatil kii tegh tez KHudaa kii zamiiN rahe
(*beginning of fair play in love)

is ishq kii talaafi-e-maafaat* dekhnaa
rone kii hasrateN haiN jab aaNsuu nahiiN rahe
