ashq-e-yaar (Tears of a lover) -
20th November 2013, 12:56 PM
Pyare dostoN,
Maine ees qlaam me jo pehla misra likha hai, wo Hazrat Amir Khusro ke eik qlaam se liyaa hai (Use maine alag color me set kiya hai). Baaki pehle sheyr ka dusra misra aur baki ke saare aasaar mere apne haiN.
Maine har'ek sheyr ke saath uska tarjuma joda hai, taki paRne wale een sheyroN ko aasaani se tafseer kar sakeN
man judaa giryaa kunaan, abr judaa, yaar judaa
keh, shamsheer az tegh maanind, chashm az deedaar judaa
{I wept alone, clouds (wept) alone, my friend/lover (wept) alone
when, just like the sword (looses sharpness) from its blade, (my) eyes separated from the sight (of my beloved)}
tegh-e-da’ewna’esaas* aan paRee jab jaan pe
phir kyuN parwaa, jo dhaR se ho sar judaa
{When the sword of Damocles is hanging over me
why should I care even if I am beheaded?}
gar Khuda ka faysalaa hi, mera wajood yahaaN
kyun kisi mazhab se, ho mera deen-e-yaar judaa
{If its God’s wish that I should exist in this world
why is my faith of love considered different from other religions?}
deeda-e-tar rahaa, naa koh-e-aabshaar rahaa
kaise shole se jo, karte phir naar judaa
{neither are there tearful eyes nor are there left mountains of waterfall
how will then the flames be separated from the fire?}
“Safeer” ab Kaafir kyuN, jo shahadaa bayaaN kiya
raqs-e-Qaadir dekh, huva dil se dildaar judaa
{How “Safeer” now remains an unbeliever when he has pronounced the “Shahadaa”?
see the jigs of the Almighty, today even his (“Safeer’s”) heart is not his own}
~ "Safeer" Aadeil
*tegh-e-da'ewna'esaas = Sword of Damocles. Referenced from a Greek legend that Damocles, a courtier in the court of King Dionysius was proud of his strength and once told the King that the king was blessed with powerful men like himself around him. At this, King Dionysius (whose name is mentioned in place of Damocles in my sheyr with a reason) ordered a sword to be hung over Damocles head on a single strand of hair to show Damocles that even a great man lives always in constant fear.

Moderators,
Can you delete the first post? I needed to make some changes and hence am posting this again in the same thread.
