My life's been filled with ups and downs,
I have often wondered if I wear more frowns,
It seems that pain only comes my way,
Only negative words I have to say.

Until that day that I was made whole,
You looked to the depth of my soul,
I had set aside those feelings for years,
For in that time I was filled with fear.

I thought there could never be a way,
That you would love me so and never sway,
I assumed I would never be your choice,
I'd never hear "I Love You" from your voice.

I still don't know if I have your heart,
But above the rest you stand apart,
Even though my standards are now high,
You've met them and over qualify.

There are some differences between us two,
But they're nothing that we can't get through,
With true love you must stand firm and tall,
Never letting others make you fall.

I can't imagine you not in my life,
I'd be filled with so much pain and strife,
My heart would break at the thought of you,
And because of this I know not what to do.

I want you more as the days pass by,
To hold you close and look deep in your eyes,
To hold your hand and kiss your lips,
And to stroke your face with my finger tips.

So with this I've come with my heart on my sleeve,
Hoping you won't turn around and leave,
I ask for just one simple chance,
At giving you life full of love and romance
