The Only One

when autumn was present
and nothin was green;
when nothin was pleasant
and no one could dream;

you were the one
to hold my hand
the only one to show me the land.

when no one was there
and there was no hope;
when no one could dare
and i couldn't cope;

you were the one
who made me believe
the only one who took away my griefs.

when the good was down
and the bad was high;
when a feather could drown
and i couldn't fly;

you were the one
who made me walk
the only one to whom i could talk.

when time didn't favour
and hardwork didn't pay;
when nothing had flavour
and nothing was gay;

you were the one
who was always there
the only one to love and to care.

when the sea was rough
and the weather was stormy;
when life was tough
and fate scorny;

you were the one
who wiped my tears
the only one to bury my fears.

when the path was long
and the goal distant;
when no one was along
and nothing was consistent;

you were the one
who gave me light
the only one who showed me right.
