ik nayi tasveer aa gayi hai
 pat jha’d qareeb aa rahi hai

moozu badal gaya hai lekin!
tasveer pe tehreer wohi hai
hur shaks karta hai man maani
 dunia ki yehi reet ho chali hai
bagheecha hai roshan kirnoN se
dil meiN ujaaloN ki kami hai
ik arse baad hum mile haiN
 baatoN meiN magar shikastagi hai
shikastagi : disruption

apna saaya bhi ghut raha hai
halaat ki dhoop kad’di hai
khamoosh fiza pe jab ghoor kiya!
 tasveer zaar-o-qataar ro paDi hai
kaash meHfil bhi aaj keh uthey!
 wah! khoob manzar-kashi hui hai

tumhara shoq dekha to ghazal hum ne nazar kar di!
kabhi fursat meiN sun lena, bohat ashaar baqi haiN... ("Asad")
