aaNkh miltii nahiiN zamaane se

aarizaa ho gayaa hai rone kaa
chand ghaRiyoN ke muskuraane se
(aarizaa : compensate)

kitne tuufaaN uTheNge saahil par
ek kashtii ke Duub jaane se

DhuuNd aayaa tujhe zamaane meN
tum kahaaN gum ho ek zamaane se

ab to duniyaa se jaa rahaa huuN maiN
lauT aao isii bahaane se

kis qadar baRh gayii hai lazzat-e-Gham
shiddat-e-Gham meN muskuraane se
(shiddat-e-Gham : intensity of pain)

daar hii ko gale lagaao “Shamim”
maut behtar hai sar jhukaane se

Jaane kya samjha woh mujhe
