raks karti hain tanhaiyan meri yadon ke aangan me,
pyasi hain nazren is baar chale aao sawan me.

chaman ke ik gule-begana se shikve bhi kya karte,
kaanton ki saugaat hi thi is zardar ke daaman me.

kitabon ke zard gulab bhi the aatish-ba-jaan kabhi,
doobte mahtabon ne kaha itrana kaisa joban me.

maana raqeeb na hoga mujhsa aashiq tumhara,
ruswa na karna kabhi ho laakh buraai sajan me.

kat-ta hi nahi ab 'shaad' ka safar tanha,
jo ho sake to aansu hi dedo in udaas aankhan me..
